Tubular Parts
Precision parts manufactured from fine tube range from outer diameters of 0.6 to 27mm with a wall thickness of 0.1 up to 1mm.
We produce many of the semi-finished products required for the production of these tubular parts ourselves. We can therefore respond to a wide range of individual customer requests and are extremely flexible in our production. Surface treatment as well is carried out in our own state-of-the-art facilities for bulk materials.
Tubular Rivets
Tubular Rivets have a cylindrical inner and outer contour, which is the key difference to hollow rivets produced in a deep-drawing process.
Standard materials are: brass, copper, aluminium and steel. We also process pure nickel, nickel silver, copper-nickel, stainless steel, silver, and gold. Brass is very common due to its strength, but is prone to stress corrosion when it comes into contact with some other materials.
Designation according to DIN 7340: The designation standardised in DIN specifies the head shape, shaft diameter d1, wall thickness s, nominal length l and material.
An example of the complete designation of a flat head rivet made of copper with d1=3 mm, s=0.3 mm, and l=20 mm is listed below:
RN A 3 x 0.3 x 20 DIN 7340 Cu
Tips for Riveting
The riveting die should expand the rivet shaft without bulging it.
Our recommendation:
Design the riveting die according to the drawing below and optimise it by carrying out riveting tests, as well as testing for dimension z (guide values in the dimension table). These instructions also apply analogously to other sawn-off tube parts.
Beaded Tubes and Plug Pins
Plug pins are shaped convex on one side and sawn off on the other. In the case of plug pin R, this convex shape is more closed off than on a plug pin N with the same shaft diameter. Beaded tubes are sawn off on both sides. Since they are made of a material that can be flanged and are therefore particularly easy to rivet, the above-mentioned parts all have an advantage over turned pins.
Standard materials are: brass and copper. We also process aluminium, pure nickel, nickel silver, copper-nickel, steel, and stainless steel. Brass is very common due to its strength, but is prone to stress corrosion when it comes into contact with some other materials.
The order designations are:
for a beaded tube SR: D1 x s x L / l1
for a plug pin N: StSt N D1 x s x L / l1
for a plug pin R: StSt R D1 x s x L / l1
Special versions are available:
Plug pins F with longitudinal joint for special applications
Plug pins R with limited surface roughness, e.g. Ra = 0.3 μm, for increased contact reliability
Beaded tubes and plug pins with two beads
Plug pins with conical tip
Plug pins N with convex shape on both ends
Single, Double and Triple-Bead Sleeves
Single, double and triple-bead sleeves with drawn-in ends are often used as support and hose sleeves in pipe and hose lines.
Brass and aluminium are standard materials – other materials are available on request.
Tube Sections, Welding Rings and Crimping Ferrules
Crimping ferrules and tube sections are merely sawn off on both ends without an inner or outer chamfer.
In addition to the standard materials brass and copper, we also process other suitable materials such as pure nickel, nickel silver, copper-nickel, steel, stainless steel, aluminium, silver, and gold.
As these parts have a wide range of applications, we recommend specifying the intended use at the enquiry stage. This enables us to recognise and take into account special requirements (e.g. good expandability or good crimping properties).
On request, the parts can be supplied in a bright annealed finish.
The order designation for a standard pipe section is:
RA d x s x I
Special Parts
In addition to the parts listed above, we manufacture a wide range of special parts according to customer drawings. The following examples give an overview of feasible geometries produced by our machines, but are not exhaustive and are expanded constantly.
Some of the variants shown can also be combined.
We would be happy to advise you on the realisation of your special parts.
